The Little Rock Public Works Department is launching multiple improvement projects.
City officials announced that the department has begun a project that will relocate Cedar Street between Markham Street and Interstate 630 to the east. It will be adjacent to Pine Street.
This project, which is designed to improve traffic flow around the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and provide land for the campus’ expansion, is expected to last for approximately 18 months. The construction, which will proceed in phases, will result in detours and the closure of side-streets.
However, traffic on South Pine Street and South Cedar Street will continue without street closures during construction.
There will also be a storm water drainage improvement project at Byrd Street and East Capitol Avenue. Starting Monday, Oct. 19, these streets will be closed for the duration of the project.
