The ALS Association will host the CEO Soak event at Argenta Plaza on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 4-5:30 p.m., bringing together business professionals and community leaders to raise awareness and funds for ALS. Inspired by the Ice Bucket Challenge, CEO Soak events nationwide encourage participants to make a splash for a cause.
The event, chaired by Curtis Barnett, president and CEO of Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield, aims to honor Tommy May, former chairman and CEO of Simmons First National Corp., and to support ALS research and patient care. Local leaders set to participate include Mitch Bettis of Arkansas Business Publishing Group, Brian Thomas of Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Bob Fehlman of Simmons Bank, North Little Rock Mayor Terry Hartwick, and Baptist Health CEO Troy Wells.
“We are excited for this year’s event and grateful for all the community and business leaders who are taking part in supporting our good friend Tommy May and finding a cure for ALS,” said Barnett.
The CEO Soak encourages businesses to join the effort, with all funds raised supporting ALS patient care, advocacy and research.
Mitch Bettis urged other businesses to participate, saying, “Together, we can help generate the needed funds to help make ALS a more treatable condition, ultimately allowing ALS patients to lead more fulfilling lives.”
Cal Brooks, territory executive of the ALS Association, highlighted the significance of the event in advancing ALS research and care.
“By getting ‘soaked’ at CEO Soak Arkansas, you are helping us continue to provide hope and help to those in our community living with ALS and their caregivers while aggressively searching for new treatments and a cure. It’s going to take all of us, working together, to finally see a world without ALS,” Brooks said.
