Soon, students in and around Saline County will have access to a new career and technical education center, after CDI Contractors of Little Rock won the bid to begin construction on the Saline County Career Technical School.
“We’re just thrilled to be a part of this sort of project,” says Mark Beach, vice president and COO of CDI Contractors. “It’s a necessary and exciting opportunity for area students.”
Students from Benton, Bryant, Bauxite, Glen Rose, Harmony Grove and Sheridan school districts will have access to the 140,000 square foot center, which will feature classes across ten curricula, including welding, health sciences and nursing. Seven of the ten categories will provide job certifications for students inclined to immediately jump into the job market. “We wanted to represent Arkansas’s 10 fastest-growing markets,” says Jeff Arey, Saline County Judge. “It’s the single most important thing we can do to prepare our kids and students for their next opportunity.”
CDI Contractors won the project with a bid totalling $27.899 million, estimating a 515 timeline, funded by a countywide ⅜-cent sales tax. The Saline County Career Technical Campus is expected to be open for business by the 2021-22 school year, located on Mountain View Road in Benton.
