A new director has been appointed to head up the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at Henderson State University. John Caver has been named as the new director.
As director, Caver will oversee consultants who aid entrepreneurs and small businesses in a 10-county region. These counties include Clark, Dallas, Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Howard, Montgomery, Pike, Polk and Sevier counties.
“The current pandemic is providing an impetus for potential entrepreneurs to consider opening their own business,” Caver said in a statement. “We are here to help guide them through the process of researching their idea, building a business plan, and creating a package ready to present to a lender for financing the venture.
According to its website, the ASBTDC at Henderson State University provides assistance in business planning, financial analysis and budgeting, market research, loan packaging, growth and expansion, and marketing. Consultations are provided free of charge for Arkansas entrepreneurs.
Caver owns a Texas insurance agency, according to his LinkedIn profile, and previously was the vice president of sales and marketing for Optus Inc. in Jonesboro. He also served in roles with Sprint Nextel, Alltell and Verizon.
He is also a 1987 Henderson State graduate.
