Construction equipment giant Caterpillar announced last week the second phase of its expansion at a facility in North Little Rock. The company said it expects to hire 250 new workers in the coming year.
Gov. Asa Hutchinson said on Thursday that between 2017 and 2020, the company will have invested more than $40 million in expanding the plant. He was joined during the announcement by Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce and Caterpillar officials.
Caterpillar announced In March 2017 the first phase of its expansion to increase jobs. The state offered incentives to Caterpillar at the time, including five years of a 3.9 percent tax rebate, sales and use tax credits and a $140,000 employee training program grant.
The facility, which opened in 2010, will now also produce paving equipment in addition to motor graders and loaders.
