CARTI has opened a breast center location in Russellville, its third devoted to the treatment of breast cancer.
The new facility features the most advanced 3D mammography technology outfitted with the SmartCurve breast stabilization system and MammoPad for greater comfort, according to a press release.
Based in Little Rock, CARTI is a nonprofit, comprehensive cancer-care provider offering medical and surgical oncology, diagnostic radiology and radiation oncology. It now operates 19 treatment locations in 16 cities across the state.
The Russellville cancer center is located at 209 South Portland Avenue in Russellville and is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“We are thrilled to provide this innovative technology to the patients of Russellville and beyond,” said Adam Head, president and CEO. “While we know that mammograms are critically important in the early detection of breast cancer, Arkansas ranks 35th for participation in mammography screening, with only 65 percent of women ages 45 and over having had a mammogram in the last year. We’re hopeful that with the most advanced 3D technology, plus the addition of the SmartCurve system and MammoPad, we’ll be able to lessen the pain and anxiety associated with mammograms and, as a result, increase screening compliance.”
Images from the Russellville center will be read by breast imaging specialists, Drs. Stacy Smith-Foley and Jessica McElreath, working with surgeons, Drs. Jerri S. Fant and Yara Robertson.
