The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Natural State Cafe was held on Monday, Jan. 13, at the Arkansas State Capitol.
The previous cafe, known as 500 Grill, was damaged by a fire last year. The space has since been redesigned and remodeled into an upscale, modern-style restaurant. The new name, Natural State Cafe, was voted on by the Secretary of State’s office staff. It is open to all Capitol visitors and staff.
“We are so grateful to those who have made this project happen,” Arkansas Secretary of State Cole Jester said. “This will be a wonderful place for good Southern food and hospitality right here in the people’s State Capitol and I’m proud to officially open it to the public.”
Murray Contractors, WER Architects, Ben E. Keith, ASAP Personnel Services and Aimco Equipment Company contributed to the project.
The Natural State Cafe will serve Southern-style breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. It’s located on the lower level of the Capitol.
