Progress is being made in the construction of several major projects including a 128,000-square-foot mega sports complex in Cabot dubbed Game Time at The Grounds, KATV reported.
“It has six basketball regulation courts that turn into 12 volleyball courts that turn into 18 pickleball courts,” Cabot Mayor Ken Kinkade told the local media outlet. “We will also have two indoor soccer fields that will also turn into baseball fields, flag football fields or tackle football fields. We will be able to hold a lot of things here.”
The complex is expected to open in May of 2024, and the mayor hopes that it will bring hundreds of thousands of dollars into the city annually.
Two other projects are under construction and are set to be completed by the end of 2024; the first is a new justice center to house the Cabot Police Department, the court system and Connect 2 First, the city’s new fiber internet provider. The second is an animal service center, estimated at $4.5 million and constructed in a U-shaped campus reminiscent of a park.
“We are very fortunate that we can do these things in such a growing city so we can keep our people here and they don’t have to leave and go to Little Rock, Conway or other places that they need and we are getting to bring it here to them,” Kinkade told KATV.
