Butterball is making a major investment into two Northwest Arkansas processing facilities that is expected to create 360 new jobs in the next three years.
The North Carolina-based turkey products company is investing a total of $8.7 million to expand facilities in Ozark and Huntsville in Northwest Arkansas. The Ozark facility will receive an investment of $4.7 million, while the Huntsville facility will receive a $4 million investment.
These investments are expected to create 160 new jobs at the Ozark facility and 200 new jobs at the Huntsville facility.
“Having been a longstanding employer in Arkansas through our feed mills, turkey growing operations and production facilities, Butterball appreciates the continued support from the state of Arkansas as we look to expand some of our processing operations at our Huntsville and Ozark, Arkansas facilities,” Butterball president and CEO Jay Jandrain said in a statement. “We are proud to continue to be vital contributors to and key supporters of the local communities in which we operate and we’re grateful for the hardworking people of Arkansas.”
As part of the expansion effort, Butterball will upgrade the processing equipment and expand refrigeration capacity at the Ozark facility. The company is also planning to remodel team member welfare areas.
At the Huntsville facility, Butterball will also be upgrading processing equipment, while also expanding cooler space and executing production line modifications. The Huntsville facility will be remodeled and will feature a new training area, team member welfare areas and new offices.
“Communities are the foundation for economic development,” Arkansas Secretary of Commerce and Arkansas Economic Development Commission Executive Director Mike Preston said. “Butterball does a lot for the communities in which they operate, and I am thrilled to see the investment the company is making in both Huntsville and Ozark.”
Butterball operates other facilities in Arkansas, including a third processing facility in Jonesboro and feed mills in Yellville and Alix.
