Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg has dropped out of the 2020 presidential race.
Bloomberg announced his intention to suspend his presidential campaign on Wednesday morning following the results of Super Tuesday. His campaign did not win any states despite a reported $500 million spent on advertising.
In Arkansas, Bloomberg came in third behind Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders. He captured only 16.7 percent of the vote compared to Biden’s 40.5 percent and Sanders’ 22.4 percent.
“I’m a believer in using data to inform decisions. After yesterday’s results, the delegate math has become virtually impossible – and a viable path to the nomination no longer exists. But I remain clear-eyed about my overriding objective: victory in November,”
He also endorsed Biden as the presidential nominee. He argues that Biden has the best opportunity to defeat President Donald Trump in the general election.
“I’ve always believed that defeating Donald Trump starts with uniting behind the candidate with the best shot to do it. After yesterday’s vote, it is clear that candidate is my friend and a great American, Joe Biden,” he said.
