On Sept. 4, officials celebrated the opening of Baptist Health Family Clinic-Rose City in North Little Rock, marking a major step in health care access for the area’s residents. This new facility, a collaboration between the City of North Little Rock and Baptist Health, is the first full-service medical clinic in East North Little Rock since a 2013 fire destroyed the previous clinic.
Troy Wells, president and CEO of Baptist Health, highlighted the importance of the clinic for the community.
“We believe this will help improve health care access for residents in the Rose City neighborhood so they can get the care they need closer to home,” he said.
North Little Rock Mayor Terry Hartwick, a Rose City native, shared a personal story about how a local clinic saved his life after a childhood injury. He emphasized the clinic’s role in supporting the area’s growth, which includes new homes and factories.
The clinic, located at 4200 E. Washington Ave., will be staffed by Dr. Jessica Udeogu and Nurse Practitioner Gia Williams. Udeogu, a graduate of the Baptist Health-UAMS residency program, and Williams, who earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Chatham University, bring extensive medical experience to the clinic.
Designed by Taggart Architects and constructed by Alessi Keyes Construction, the nearly 6,500-square-foot facility is valued at approximately $5 million. It aims to address disparities in health care, particularly in underserved communities like Rose City.
Dr. Stan Kellar, chief medical officer at Baptist Health Medical Center-North Little Rock, noted, “Difficulties in accessing care contribute to disparities in health care outcomes. Through this new clinic, we aim to improve the health of residents in Rose City.”
Bank of America played a key role in the clinic’s establishment, providing financial support for essential medical equipment. Heather Jones, president of Bank of America Arkansas, emphasized the bank’s commitment to improving community health care.
Baptist Health Family Clinic-Rose City is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., providing comprehensive health care services for the local community.
