Arvest Bank has named a new member to its central Arkansas board of directors. Pam Smith, communications director for the Little Rock School District, is the newest board member for the bank.

“Pam’s entire career has been community focused, with the goals of informing Arkansans and improving the cities in which we work through a number of initiatives,” Jim Cargill, president and CEO of Arvest Bank in central, northeast and southwest Arkansas, said in a statement. “Her experience will compliment that of our other board members, and we are grateful for her involvement for the benefit of our customers.”

Prior to joining the Little Rock School District, Smith was a news anchor and report for KATV. In addition, she served as the news director for the Citadel radio stations Power 92 and KOKY, as well as a public relations assistant for the City of Little Rock.

She is also a commissioner for the Little Rock Advertising and Promotion Commission and a board member on the University of Arkansas Pulaski Technical College Foundation.

Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications and broadcast journalism from Oral Robert University, located in Tulsa, Okla.
