Lara Blume McGee, the Arkansas-based philanthropist who founded Team Up World and ALS in Wonderland, recently spoke about her experiences with Jeffrey Epstein during the lead-up to the signing of the Epstein Files Transparency Act in Washington, D.C., where she said she was sexually trafficked while pursuing a modeling career in New York City.
“I was sexually and mentally abused by Jeffrey Epstein,” she said. “He used my dreams and vulnerabilities to silence me. Today, I am here to break that silence.”
She said it was her first time speaking publicly about the incident. McGee urged lawmakers to vote for the files to be released in their entirety, saying that Epstein’s abuse was an “open secret” and his network had been protected for too long.
“Evil thrives in darkness,” she said. “We must shine a light on every corner where it hides. Nothing should be off limits in the search for truth.”
She asked that investigations be allowed to proceed without obstruction, saying, “The government must never side with predators.”
“I come as one survivor, but I stand here for everyone who prayed for me, who believed in me and who hoped in me,” she said. “To my fellow survivors, your courage brought me here. We are more than victims. We are mothers, daughters, sisters, friends. This is not a hoax, and we will not be erased. Shame on any elected official who obstructs truth and justice for the American people.”
