The Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches will celebrate its 50th anniversary at its annual Arkansas Children’s Award Dinner Oct. 26.
At the dinner, Entergy Arkansas CEO Laura Landreaux will be presented with the Arkansas Children’s Award for her “longstanding commitment to improving opportunities for young people and families throughout the state,” according to a press release.
Founded in 1976 by the Sheriffs of Arkansas, ASYR — the Ranch — provides a safe home and comprehensive support for children who have experienced abuse, neglect or family instability. It has served more than 2,300 Arkansas children for over 50 years.
For more than 30 years, the Ranch has presented the Arkansas Children’s Award to individuals whose leadership and service have made a lasting impact on children across the state.
In addition to leading Entergy Arkansas, which invests in causes supporting early childhood education and literacy, efforts to address child hunger and family stability, as well as youth development programs, Landreaux serves on the boards of Easterseals Arkansas, the Academies of Central Arkansas and the Foundation for the Mid South.
“Laura Landreaux has demonstrated a deep commitment to creating brighter futures for Arkansas children,” said Ray Dillon, chair of the Arkansas Sheriffs’ Youth Ranches board of trustees. “Her leadership and service reflect the spirit of the Arkansas Children’s Award, and we are proud to recognize her as this year’s honoree while celebrating this milestone year for the Ranch.”
The 31st-annual Arkansas Children’s Award Dinner is set for Monday, Oct. 26, at the Little Rock Marriott. Tickets and sponsorships are available at asyr.org.
