State Sen. Jason Rapert said in a Facebook post that he plans to rebuild the 10 Commandments monument that was destroyed last week.
Arkansas Online reported that the statue was destroyed less than 24 hours after it was fully constructed. The monument was erected Tuesday morning, according to a news release from the American History & Heritage Foundation.
Rapert said on Facebook that “we have already ordered the replacement and will be building more all over the country.”
Michael Tate Reed, 32, who was arrested by Capitol Police after the monument was toppled, is being held in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond, according to jail records.
Reed was arraigned via video Thursday morning, court documents show. He faces charges of defacing an object of public respect, criminal mischief in the first degree and criminal trespass.
