Although COVID-19 has caused devastation and many challenges around the world, it has also created an opportunity to come together as a global community to help each other.
May 5, 2020 has been dedicated as #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of generosity and solidarity, in effort to mobilize support during this unprecedented time.
#GivingTuesdayNow is organized by GivingTuesday, a global generosity movement that began in 2012 and has grown over the past seven years to inspire hundreds of millions of people to give, usually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. GivingTuesday will still host its traditional event on December 1, 2020, but #GivingTuesdayNow is an emergency response to the great needs created by COVID-19.
During the previous GivingTuesday, held December 3, 2019, the global giving day generated $2 billion in giving, just in the United States.
Here are some organizations in Arkansas that need our support:
ARKANSAS ADVOCATES FOR CHILDREN AND FAMILIES
AACF needs your support to be a voice for kids and low-income families. We are on the front lines of making policy recommendations for quality, affordable health care and economic security for all Arkansans during this difficult time.
Let’s come together to create a wave of generosity, engagement and action! Please visit our website at https://www.aradvocates.org/donate to make your donation to AACF today. And thank you for making a difference right here at home!

IMMERSE ARKANSAS
Here at Immerse, we have triaged the basic needs of the youth we support. We are now focused on securing funds to ensure loving and healing spaces for our youth by making some key repairs to our housing. A loving space sends the message to our youth that they matter, it promotes their “felt safety,” and it inspires them to pursue their goals and aspirations.
One of our supportive homes is in need of significant updates to become a truly loving space:
- New windows – This ensures safety in the event of a house fire and reduces energy expenses
- Central heat and air – This house is currently using window units for AC that do not keep up with the demand in the summer
Our goal is to raise $30,000 to make these needed repairs. With the support of a couple donors who stepped up early to help, we have already raised $16,500 of the $30,000 needed to complete the repairs. As a thank you to everyone who is able to make a donation of $25 or more as we work toward creating loving spaces for our youth, we’ll send a code for a free “Love is Rising” T-shirt. https://immersearkansas.org/donate

MAMIE’S POPPY PLATES
This Tuesday, May 5, non-profits around the world are coming together for a day of giving and unity. Our daily lives may have slowed down, but pregnancy and child loss hasn’t stopped. Families are grieving, many now alone because of social distancing. Your donation will help us meet the needs of our partner hospitals and online orders through 2020 and bridge the gap until our Poppy Party in November. We know there are so many ways to give back and help in your community. We ask that you keep Mamie’s in mind tomorrow if considering a charitable contribution.
PROJECT ZERO
Today is a new national day of giving, #GivingTuesdayNow! This is our way of saying “Thank you!” to you and businesses like David’s & TCBY who also support our mission!
