On Monday, June 23, Democratic Arkansas State Senator Frederick J. Love officially revealed his plans to run for governor with a campaign that focuses on protecting public schools, empowering communities and driving economic growth across the state, especially in rural and underserved areas.
“We can either stay on the path that sidelines our kids, weakens our schools, and silences our towns—or we can choose a future that values every student, every community, and every small business owner,” said Sen. Love. “I’m running for Governor because I believe Arkansas works best when it works for all of us.”
Along with this announcement, Love revealed his plan to spark growth in rural and urban communities, entitled the Place-Based Economic Development Plan. Highlights include establishing regional economic development hubs customized for specific workforce needs, expanding financial access for small businesses, partnering with high schools and smaller colleges to align education with job creation, investing in infrastructure to make every community business-ready, and more.
“We must stop measuring progress only by what happens in a few cities,” Love said. “Prosperity should be visible in our Delta towns, our Ozark communities, and our Main Streets—not just in spreadsheets.”
Sen. Love was first elected to the Senate in 2022, representing District 15. From 2011 through 2022, he served in the House of Representatives.
