The Arkansas athletics program has been fined $100,000 by the Southeastern Conference (SEC) after fans stormed the field following the Razorbacks’ 40-21 win over Texas in Fayetteville Saturday night.
Fans rushing the field is a violation of an SEC policy that states “access to competition areas shall be limited to participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel and properly-credentialed individuals at all times. For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest shall spectators be permitted to enter the competition area. It is the responsibility of each member institution to implement procedures to ensure compliance with this policy.”
The UA received a similar fine in 2014 after fans stormed the field following the Hogs’ 17-0 win over LSU.
Arkansas officials didn’t seem to mind this year. On Sunday, Hogs head coach Sam Pittman tweeted a video of fans coming on the field after the game and wrote:
