The Arkansas State Fair has announced that at the close of this year’s event, the fair has yet again shattered historic attendance numbers– surpassing the previous benchmark set in 2015.
The State Fair just recently announced a record-breaking opening weekend, as well.
Saturday Oct. 23 saw 97,566 fairgoers come through the gate, a single-day attendance record for the 81-year-old event. Cumulative attendance through the end of Saturday surpassed the previous attendance record set in 2015, when the fair hosted 473,105 patrons.
It was predicted that the fair would break the ceiling on the 500,000 attendance mark after Sunday, and secure itself as the largest entertainment event in the state.
“A tremendous crowd packed the fairgrounds to enjoy another perfect day at the fair,” said interim General Manager Anne Marie Doramus. “Our gate numbers, carnival revenue and food concessions are at all-time high.” Doramus continued, “The combination of a huge crown in town for the game at War Memorial Stadium, perfect weather, and a capacity crowd at the Riley Green concert on our main stage made for the perfect formula for our record numbers.”
