Positive coronavirus totals in Arkansas have exceeded 500 as of Tuesday afternoon.
State officials confirmed that there have been 523 total confirmed COVID-19 cases in Arkansas. The total crossed the 500 mark between Monday, March 30 and today (Tuesday, March 31). Yesterday, the total number of cases was 473 – an increase of 50 cases.
During that time, there has also been an additional death, bringing the state total to eight deaths. According to Arkansas Department of Health Secretary Dr. Nathaniel Smith, this individual was aged 65 years or older and was from the central Arkansas region. According to the ADH website, there have been 3,440 deaths in the United States, meaning that Arkansas’ coronavirus mortality rate represents 0.23 percent of the nation’s total death rate.
At the worldwide level, there have been 41,261 deaths due to coronavirus. There have been 838,061 total confirmed cases worldwide.
In the United States, there have been 177,452 total cases of coronavirus – the largest amount in the world. The United States’ cases represent 21.17 percent of the total cases. Arkansas’ number of cases represent only 0.29 percent of the nation’s total number of confirmed cases.
Three new counties have reported coronavirus cases, bringing the total number of counties with infections to 51. The new counties include Perry, Newton and Columbia.
The other counties include Benton, Washington, Sebastian, Polk, Sevier, Boone, Searcy, Van Buren, Conway, Pope, Cleburne, Faulkner, Pulaski, Saline, Garland, Grant, Jefferson, Clark, Cleveland, Desha, Lincoln, Bradley, Union, Columbia, Woodruff, Independence, Lawrence, Greene, Craighead, Poinsett, Crittenden, Cross, Crawford, Stone, White, Pike, Hempstead, Drew, Hot Springs, Lonoke, Chictot, Randolph, Baxter, Johnson, Perry, Ashley, Nevada, Hempstead and St. Francis counties.
The remaining counties with no reported coronavirus cases include Calhoun, Carroll, Clay, Dallas, Franklin, Fulton, Izard, Jackson, Lafayette, Lee, Little River, Logan, Madison, Marion, Miller, Mississippi, Monroe, Montgomery, Ouachita, Phillips, Prairie, Scott, Sharp and Yell counties.
