Students at the Arkansas Coding Academy (ArCA) will have an opportunity to showcase their work and skills to potential employers on Friday during the academy’s Demo Day.
The University of Central Arkansas-based academy is holding the Demo Day, which allows the ArCA Java/SQL graduates to present their final projects, on Friday, Aug. 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at UCA Downtown. Students will also have the opportunity to network with members of their prospective industries during the Demo Day.
Founded in 2016, the Arkansas Coding Academy was designed to serve as a pipeline for Arkansas talent in programming and information technology fields. According to ArCA Director Dr. Don Walker, the Demo Day plays a large part in filling that pipeline.
“Demo Day is our students’ final exam and graduation ceremony all rolled up together. It provides invaluable experience demonstrating software they created, live and in person, and gives employers a chance to get to know them and the skills they’ve gained during their time at the Coding Academy,” Walker said. “Many of our past graduates kicked off their successful job searches in earnest through the contacts they made at Demo Day.”
The free Demo Day is open to students, employers and community members.
