What makes an “influencer,” in your opinion?
An influencer is someone who is dedicated to assisting others and identifying innovative solutions within the health care sector. My commitment to enhancing women’s access to prenatal and postpartum care led to collaborations with technology companies to develop the Hello Pregnancy app, a platform offering educational resources and the ability to communicate with a registered nurse via chat or voice. The establishment of prenatal clinics to provide care and education irrespective of a patient’s financial capacity combined with the strategy of pairing high-risk mothers with community health workers for in-home visits is significantly contributing to a positive impact on the well-being of mothers and infants.
What is a secret to success you wish you had learned sooner?
It is both normal and acceptable to not possess every answer to every question nor every solution to every issue or problem. I have come to understand the value of pausing and dedicating the necessary time to perform due diligence, ensuring that any question I am seeking to address or any issue I am attempting to resolve has been thoroughly researched, which leads to a more confident answer.
When did it click for you that this was the career you wanted to pursue?
Since an early age, I have been driven by a desire to pursue a role dedicated to helping and serving others. I have been fortunate to spend the past 21 years at Baptist Health engaged in work that I am truly passionate about: assisting others. This has ranged from guiding patients through intricate health care diagnoses and researching and implementing innovative new surgical technologies to investing in software aimed at improving maternal and infant health outcomes.
How would you like to be remembered by your community — personally or professionally?
I aspire to be remembered as an individual who demonstrates profound care for others, frequently prioritizing their needs over my own. Professionally, I seek recognition as an innovative, empathetic leader dedicated to the continuous development of my team, motivating them to achieve their fullest potential for both their personal benefit and the organization’s success.
