Mother and son, Co-owners, C&C Tree Services of Arkansas

C&C Tree Services of Arkansas in Little Rock is a family-owned and -operated tree service business that has served homeowners across central Arkansas for 45 years. Much more than just removing unwanted limbs and trees, mother-and-son duo Debbie and Chase Shamlin specialize in providing a variety of top-notch services for outdoor spaces. As a duo, Debbie and Chase collaborate on every project that C&C Tree Services conquers alongside husband and father Chuck Shamlin.
How do your working styles complement each other?
Debbie is the coordinator and back-office person. Chase is the backbone, literally, as he is physically on every project, working alongside our team, ensuring we leave each client’s property better than when we started.
What lessons have you learned from working alongside one another?
We have learned to communicate better and more efficiently, and we know that sometimes we just need to table work and business for the day, rest and regroup for the next.
How important is it to keep business and personal relationships separate?
Debbie: Chase and I are wired very similarly, which can be both a blessing and a challenge. That’s where my husband, his dad, Chuck, comes in as our steady anchor. He does such a great job of keeping us grounded and reminding us that there’s a time for work and a time for personal life. His balance helps keep both of us in check, and I truly feel like he’s what keeps everything running in a healthy, sustainable way.
