Amazon has officially broken ground on a new state-of-the-art logistics facility in Little Rock, continuing its investment across Arkansas. The more than 930,000-square-foot building is expected to bring over 1,000 full- and part-time jobs to central Arkansas once fully operational in 2027.
“This strategic location in the heart of the heartland streamlines logistics processes and offers businesses easy access to critical transportation corridors,” said Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. “Areas like this are just one reason why Central Arkansas is a great place to do business.”
The facility will be located at the Port of Little Rock, where road, rail, river and runway access converge. Local leaders say this site positions the city as a major logistics player in the region.
“We’re proud to continue investing in Arkansas and Little Rock with this new facility,” said Andrea Fava, vice president of public policy for Amazon. “This project will create 1,000 jobs with competitive benefits while helping us provide faster delivery and great service to our customers.”
Little Rock Mayor Frank Scott Jr. celebrated the expansion, noting its local impact.
“Amazon’s decision to reinvest in the Port of Little Rock demonstrates again the strength of Arkansas’s capital city as a logistical hub and great place to do business,” Scott said.
Since 2010, Amazon has created 4,000 jobs in Arkansas and invested over $2.6 billion in infrastructure and employee compensation. That investment has generated an additional $2.4 billion for the state’s economy and supported another 6,500 indirect jobs in sectors such as construction, logistics and professional services.
Amazon has been steadily expanding across Arkansas with delivery stations already in Lowell and Hot Springs, and additional sites under construction in Fort Smith and Texarkana.
Amazon offers full-time employees comprehensive benefits starting on day one, including health coverage, a 401(k) with company match and up to 20 weeks of paid parental leave. Hourly workers earn an average base wage of more than $22 per hour, with total compensation averaging more than $29 per hour when including elected benefits.
Employees also have access to Amazon’s Career Choice program, which pre-pays tuition for courses in high-demand fields, regardless of whether the skills apply to jobs within the company.
