Arkansas Enterprises for the Developmentally Disabled, Inc. (AEDD) is set to break ground on April 11, 2025, for a new housing initiative designed to support individuals with developmental disabilities, those exiting institutions, and Arkansans at risk of homelessness. Funded by the American Rescue Plan through the Arkansas Development Finance Authority (ADFA), the project will create three Non-Congregate Shelter Housing units—two in Cabot and one in North Little Rock.
Each home will feature six individual bedrooms, divided into two sections with private bathrooms, microwaves, beds, closets and sitting areas. Shared spaces will include a living area, dining space, double-sided kitchen, two laundry rooms and outdoor amenities. This design provides residents with both privacy and a sense of community, offering a safe and stable transition toward permanent housing.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at 5 S. Polk St. in Cabot at 10 a.m., featuring remarks from Mark Conine, ADFA Director; Representative Brian S. Evans, Speaker of the House; and Cabot Mayor Ken Kincade, who has voiced support for the initiative.
Construction is expected to be completed by May 2026. To learn more about the project’s guidelines and objectives, click here.
