Achieve Community Alliance, formerly United Cerebral Palsy of Arkansas, has named Archie Shelton its new chief development officer. Shelton brings more than 15 years of experience to the role, previously overseeing advancement and fundraising for nonprofits and higher education institutions.
“During his career, Archie has developed a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities within the nonprofit sector and how to take a strategic approach to meet ambitious goals,” said Jennifer Cobb, president and CEO. “His unique background and skill set will be an asset to the Achieve team as we expand our reach to empower clients across the state to ‘live life without limits.’”
Before joining Achieve, Shelton served as the director of development for an Arkansas-based foundation that provides enrichment opportunities for underprivileged students. He is a former director of development for the University of Memphis as well as a regional development director and senior advancement officer for private universities. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mass communications from Harding University and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.
In addition to Shelton, Achieve announced that it has promoted longtime team member Katy Sursa to director of grants and communications. In her new, expanded role, Sursa will leverage her expertise in community development to further grow Achieve’s impact across Arkansas.
