Families in Fort Smith will have a new tuition-free K–8 public charter school option in fall 2027, with the Academies of Math and Science (AMS) planning to open a campus serving up to 600 students.
AMS Fort Smith is one of two new schools the network plans to open in fall 2027. The other, AMS North Vegas, will serve up to 700 students in North Las Vegas, Nevada, bringing approximately 1,300 new student seats across the two communities.
“Opening these two schools is about much more than adding new campuses—it is about creating 1,300 new opportunities for students and families,” said Kristina Winters, Superintendent of AMS Schools. “We are excited to become part of the Fort Smith community and continue growing our presence in Nevada. In both communities, our goal is the same: to build schools where students are challenged, supported, known, and given opportunities to discover what they are capable of achieving.”
AMS Fort Smith will offer a K–8 education focused on academic foundations, character development and opportunities for students to explore their interests. The school will also offer programs in technology, arts, music, sports, clubs and other extracurricular activities.
The Fort Smith campus is part of AMS’ expansion, which includes the network’s continued growth in Nevada following the opening of AMS Nellis, its first Nevada campus.
Additional information about the Fort Smith school will be announced ahead of the fall 2027 opening.
