Arkansas State University has named a new associate dean and a new director of accreditation for the College of Engineering and Computer Science. Dr. Yeonsang Hwang and Jason Stewart have been named the associate dean and the director of accreditation, respectively.
An associate professor of engineering, Hwang joined the A-State engineering faculty in 2009. As the associate dean, he will oversee the college’s technical services and advising services. In addition, he will supervise the college’s departments and programs in their efforts to increase student achievement, retention and recruitment.
Stewart will be serving as the director of accreditation in addition to continuing his roles as an instructor of civil engineering and as the program director. He joined the faculty in 1998.
As the accreditation director, Stewart will oversee the college’s ABET accreditation of the civil, electrical and mechanical engineering programs, as well as other undergraduate programs that intend to seek accreditation.
“The college is very committed to a great student experience and student success as well as accreditation of our undergraduate programs,” College of Engineering and Computer Science dean Dr. Abhijit Bhattacharyyasaid in a statement. “Especially, a commitment to accreditation allows us to continually improve program delivery based on outside input. These faculty members are very well-prepared to help us meet these goals, and I look forward to seeing their progress.”
Both Hwang and Stewart will begin their new roles effective July 1.
