An anonymous gift of $900,000 has been gifted to Immerse Arkansas to fully fund the completion of The Station, Arkansas’ first shelter for youth between the ages of 18 and 24. The Station will offer protection to its residents from crisis and guide them down a path of healing.
“We are thrilled to announce that the construction of The Station is now fully funded due to the remarkable generosity of our community. We’re incredibly grateful to all who have given, collaborated and prayed to bring this project to life. The Station will provide a launchpad into a successful future for youth who desperately need it,” said Eric Gilmore, executive director of Immerse Arkansas.
This $3.5M disrupts the foster care to prison and foster care to poverty pipelines.
“The Division of Children and Family Services is grateful for Immerse Arkansas and excited about their vision for The Station, which will be the first shelter in the state for youth ages 18-24. The Station takes a step forward in leading the way to protect and provide hope for a vulnerable population of young adults who are facing homelessness. What is even more powerful is the community partnership – the community recognized the need, came together, and the project is now fully funded. That speaks volumes to the type of individuals we have supporting youth in our state,” said Tiffany Wright, director of the Division of Children & Family Services (DCFS).
Once construction is complete, The Station will feature 15 private suites that include a bedroom and bathroom, a shared kitchen, recreation space, outdoor facilities and counseling accommodations.
