Fayetteville-based nonprofit Startup Junkie recently attended the 2024 Consumer Electronic Show (CES) in Las Vegas, one of largest and most prominent tech shows in the world, where it met with one of its new partners: the Korean Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) and its cohort of South Korean startups.
This partnership is the latest endeavor of the Startup Junkie-Asia program, in which the organization has been working alongside KOTRA to assist South Korean-based startups as they prepare to enter the United States Market. At CES, Startup Junkie and KOTRA hosted K-Innovation Day, a day of programming open to the public, which included a pitch event where some of Korea’s most exciting startups showcased their groundbreaking ventures. It also featured a panel discussion led by KOTRA-Silicon Valley and concluded with a networking event at the Venetian Resort Hotel’s Stella Studio.
The CES project is among a range of work Startup Junkie has been engaged in with the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency. KOTRA is a South Korean government agency that operates over 120 offices across more than 80 countries worldwide, including seven in the U.S., working towards promoting trade and investment between South Korea and other countries through various programs such as investment support, market research and trade consultation services.
Startup Junkie began leveraging its unique geographic positioning with South Korean partners to provide a gateway of opportunities for proof-of-concept product trials in 2020. This latest partnership reinforces Startup Junkie’s reputation as a leader and valued partner in entrepreneurial support – in the Heartland and beyond – and builds upon three years of work with and support for South Korean startups as they seek to expand their businesses into the U.S.
