LITTLE ROCK (October 18) ~ No more fighting for charging stations at the Clinton National Airport ~ the renovated concourse will have power outlets at every single seat.
“Every seat is going to have power,” said Ron Mathieu, executive director of Clinton National Airport. “Not around. Not nearby. But every single seat will have power.”
The year-long concourse renovation that began on Tuesday will include new flight-display monitors, faster wifi, better cell service inside the terminal, heated and cooled jet bridges, and, Mr. Mathieu’s favorite amenity, power outlets at every seat.
The seats themselves will also be new. The airport is replacing the 1972 seats with dual-armrest seats. Even with the extra elbow room, however, the concourse will not lose any seats, but actually will gain a few.
After this $20.6 million renovation is complete, the airport will have spent nearly $90 million in terminal improvements over the past six years.
This renovation project, part of the Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission’s 2020 Vision Plan, includes the already completed upgrade of the airport’s ticket lobby, baggage screening and security checkpoint, baggage claim area, and the additional concourse restrooms
Officials at Clinton National Airport have planned for the usual increase in holiday travel. Once completion of construction at American Airline gates 1 and 3 wraps up in about a month, the airport will halt all construction until after the first of the year.
The Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission has put in plans to minimize the inconvenience.
